La Pépinière

La Pépinière exists as a response to a common challenge faced by many in the francophone industry: the lack of structure for artists. By setting up La Pépinière, L'ANIM wishes to help create and support a new generation of artists. How will this unfold? La Pépinière will identify, train, and accompany 9 seedlings in the creation of a service structure for artists for 3 years.

RIFO

The purpose of the RIFO project is to create a strong and innovative culture of inclusion, diversity and anti-racism among francophone professionals in the Canadian music industry by rallying, informing, training and equipping them. To foster inclusion by creating opportunities in the music industry for everyone's voice to be heard, and where each contributes to the development of an industry enriched by its diversity. To rally, inform, equip, and train the professionals of the Francophone music industry in minority language settings with a common culture of inclusion, diversity, and anti-discrimination.

Past activities of ANIM

2022

Woodney Pierre at the Canadian Embassy in Washington

In March 2022, ANIM partnered with the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. to offer an exclusive concert by Canadian singer-songwriter Woodney Pierre. The Montreal-born artist combines music, art, and philanthropy. Woodney's music reflects her Haitian roots and her love of soul music. She has collaborated and shared the stage with musicians such as Luke James, Kassav and Harmonik.

Le Phoque Off

This alternative festival aims to put the spotlight on Francophone artists in partnership with ANIM.

Les Rencontres qui chantent

These artistic creation residencies were initiated by ANIM and the Village en chanson de Petite-Vallée. Since 2006, they have fostered dialogue between French-speaking Canadians and French-speaking peoples from around the world, as well as Quebec, and have allowed over a hundred singer-songwriters to enhance their creative universe.

Julie Kim at the Canadian Embassy in Washington

Who better to celebrate Canada Day in the United States than a Francophone artist? This was be the case in July 2022. Julie Kim is an Ontario-based multidisciplinary artist who performs in a variety of genres, including comedy and song. Although a solo artist, she is also a member of the sparkling trio Les Chiclettes.

2021

Vitrine d’ailleurs at Voix de fête

Vitrine d'ailleurs showcases five Francophone artists in a 15-minute virtual format, including a brief conversation with the presenting artist's agent. The public is made up of European Francophone professionals (mainly Swiss and Belgian). This is a vital networking activity for Canadian professionals to gain access to medium-term opportunities and create/maintain links with the European Francophone market.

The goal is to showcase excellence in existing proposals in the

CHICANE training

Shows are not consumed or produced in the same way in Europe as they are in Canada. Sound levels are different, setlist orders, presentations... We learned this from our French and Belgian instructors in the "Formation Chicane" training. Together, they brought an objective look at the scene, at the cultural habits of consumers, and offered the Canadian participants practical tips for adapting a tour in Europe without losing their identity.

Design Thinking

This course came from the idea of developing a collective music industry knowledge library in Canada. In partnership with HEC Montreal, ANIM has given its members theoretical and practical tools for developing long-term strategies by embracing current marketing best practices

Setup on Gather:

In 2021, together with the FCCF, ANIM launched the expansion of the Canadian provinces on Gather, a virtual office platform. The creation of the Virtual Music House is a turning point in the way we work: we can work from anywhere and be together, we can easily switch from face-to-face to virtual, or not even have to choose between the two. It's a place where you can virtually illustrate Canada's cultural cities and where you can have your offices, meeting space, performance venues, etc. Gather is an app designed specifically for the Canadian arts and culture industry, complete with its '90s Legend of Zelda feel. This idea is meant to create a "physical" place for all ANIM members and partners on the virtual app. ANIM takes care of the installation of an office for each member and their annual subscription. Hurry, the future is heeeeere!
