What exactly is ANIM?
"ANIM stands for Alliance nationale de l'industrie musicale. We're a non-profit organization that, since 2001, has been representing and supporting music industry professionals in Canada's French-speaking minority communities : managers, producers, show promoters, presenter networks and all those who offer services to artists in associative settings. These entrepreneurs and provincial associations make up our happy membership!
ANIM unites 75 members across Canada, with the exception of Quebec. From East to West, there are nearly a million French-speaking women who express themselves in predominantly English-speaking environments. These communities have been promoting and asserting the French language through music for centuries, really.
And what's our role as an organization? Well, we cover more than one mandate: representing the minority francophone community to federal institutions and funding agencies, working with our strategic partners and all the players involved in the music industry, professional development for our entrepreneurial and associative members, and business opportunities that enable us to network and make new friends all day, all night at industry events.
Our vision of the music industry focuses as much on the singular as on the shared. We tripe on the complexity of our members' realities, as diverse as they are; our daily fuel is their DIY, alternative and protest spirit. We do our best to be as cool as they are, setting up all kinds of projects and initiatives to bring them together, help them develop, support them and equip them to achieve their ambitions. And that's all there is to it!
Don't be afraid, we use the feminine gender as the neutral gender in all our communications.
