Scènes Afrofrancos
Toolkit for candidates
Scènes Afrofrancos is a project aimed at recruiting and integrating a group of young adults from Afro-descendant communities in the various stages of producing a musical show, from pre-production (planning, design, rehearsals, etc.) to the performance of a finished show. Aged between 18 and 35, the selected candidates will develop their artistic vision of the show in conjunction with the various project partners, while overseeing the technical aspects of the show. Thanks to Canadian Heritage, the financial part of the production is covered by ANIM.
Ahead of this production, the project's second objective is to inform Canadian broadcasting networks and federal institutions of the needs, expectations and particularities that Afro-descendant audiences may have with regard to music performances. ANIM hopes to formulate recommendations to better integrate them, whether in terms of professional succession, audience renewal or community integration.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Kingston Cultural Centre, or Katarokwi, located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Huron-Wendat peoples (known as Ontario), the selected candidates* will benefit from the ongoing support of a mentor to guide them throughout the project. In addition, the project's logistics document details all activities planned up to September 2025 and the project's stakeholders, while the full transparency document clarifies certain contextual aspects of the project.
